If you know the code, you can start chugging all the Pumpkin Spice Lattes

You can start ordering Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Lattes as early as today with a secret code.

We KNEW something was in the air: First, it's finally getting colder, which can only mean Pumpkin Spice Latte weather — er, we mean fall. And then we saw a perplexing sign in the window of our local Starbucks. So we dug around and we figured it out: Starbucks is secretly serving the addicting Pumpkin Spice Lattes.

According to HowAboutWe and other sources, you can start ordering Pumpkin Spice Lattes as early as today with a secret code: PSL10. Starbucks confirmed it on its official Facebook page, so we're good to go.

We asked our Starbucks source about it, here's what they said:

Pumpkin Spice Latte officially comes back to Starbucks stores across the country on Sept. 3, the day after Labor Day, but we just kicked off a fun "unlocking" program for our customers today.

Starting today, customers can visit a Starbucks store and tell the barista "PSL 10" in order to unlock the beverage early. If they’re the first one to unlock the store, the barista will put their name on a plaque that will go up at the front of the store, and any other customers that visit the store will also be able to get PSL before it officially launches on Sept. 3.

The new code, sources say, is in honor of Starbucks 10th anniversary of introducing the PSL to the pumpkin-loving public (can you believe it?). Better get it now, while the syrup's still in stock. At least The Daily Meal can show you how to make your own at home. In the meantime, we'll leave this for you after you've run to a Starbucks to get one:

[UPDATED] Starbucks Is Bringing Back The Pumpkin Spice Latte In The Most Bizarre Way Possible

Maybe all of those unicorn Frappuccinos have gone to executives' heads, because this year, the brand's announcing the PSL in the most magical &mdash and, admittedly, bizarre &mdash way possible. At 11 a.m. EST, the coffee chain launched a livestream on its Facebook page, with an exclamation-point-strewn announcement: "For the first time ever seen by humans!! The magical arrival of the Pumpkin Spice Latte!! Don't miss a moment!!"

On camera, you see a straw-covered pen, much like you'd find at a petting zoo, with a nest in the center. One hour in, and people are getting restless.

"Any bloody show yet?" Victoria Gastelum asked.

"Taking too long, bye," chimed in Aimee Segura.

Clearly, the Pumpkin Spice Latte lovers are starting to get restless. But still, there's no sign of that elusive, autumnal treat.

"GIVE US the PSL," posted Travis Williams.

Eventually, one can assume the brand will officially announce the drink's return. Until then, all we can do is watch:

ORIGINAL POST: Aug. 29, 2017 at 6:06 p.m. EST

While everybody's searching for hidden meanings in Taylor Swift's new song or the Game Of Thrones finale, Starbucks has quietly dropped a cryptic message of its own. One that's every bit as deserving of absurdist fan theories, obsessive overanalyzing, and unabashed fangirling/mockery, depending on which side of the aisle you skew.

Thankfully, we're here to provide exactly that for you. After weeks of silence on social media, Starbucks' official Pumpkin Spice Latte account suddenly piped up this morning, tweeting an all caps, so-urgent-punctuation-be-damned missive:

&mdash Pumpkin Spice Latte (@TheRealPSL) August 28, 2017

Clearly, something is happening this Friday, and the only way to find out what it is is to aggressively stalk the brand's Facebook page. Our anthropomorphic pal, @TheRealPSL, is obviously very conflicted about whatever it is. Considering how dangerously close we are to Labor Day weekend &mdash AKA the unofficial death of summer, AKA the weekend before Starbucks usually launches the Pumpkin Spice Latte &mdash it probably means the PSL is coming very, very soon.

It did offer two insights in its replies to that tweet, though: (1) 2017 is the year of many firsts, but the brand still won't be releasing a vegan version of the drink. (2) There won't be early access for Starbucks rewards members, either. (Last year, the chain let members order a PSL five days ahead of everyone else.)

The siren-logoed company is usually pretty cagey about its exact release date (in fact, maybe T-Swift got her idea to go dark on social and suddenly announce her return from @TheRealPSL &mdash inspiration is everywhere, people). But, history stands to reason it'll hit cafes everywhere within the next few weeks.

It also means the Pumpkin Spice Latte probably won't be hitting stores on Friday, either. After all, wouldn't @TheRealPSL guide you directly to your nearest coffee mecca, rather than forcing you to stalk them on Facebook like a jilted ex? That's one extra step, and you could get distracted by a recipe video for Giggle Juice or the freakish wonder that is Pickle Hummus and lose sight of your gourd-geous goal entirely.

Until Friday's big Facebook announcement comes &mdash since we're still wildly ensconced in the delicious torment that is pure media speculation &mdash let's go ahead and dispel a few things this cryptic tweet could be preparing us for . but probably isn't:

1. Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do" is really an ode to being forced into Basic B*tch status, due to her unadulterated love of autumnally spiced drinks.

That gilded cage in the video? It's sparkling with cinnamon-y spices, obvi, and shows that she's a prisoner to the drink's flavor. That sports car she crashes? Clearly a metaphor for hanger gone unchecked. Don't even get us started on the part where money's burning out of her hands. We all know how much a latte costs.

2. The PSL Is What Alec Baldwin bathes in as self-tanner before playing President Trump on SNL.

So THAT'S why they can only serve it a few months out of the year: Baldwin goes through so much for each taping of the show that there's not enough for the rest of us. (Disclaimer: DO NOT BATHE IN PSL. IT'S A HOT DRINK AND WILL BURN YOUR SKIN.)

3. It's The Key To Defeating The Night King.

Dragonglass and fire aren't the only ways to squash the Game Of Thrones villain's army of the undead. If you're watching TV and that blue demon's face scares you witless, hurling your favorite pumpkin-spiced drink at the television will probably make it short circuit. No more Night King staring into your soul. Problem solved.

4. It's The Official Drink Of The Illuminati.

In fact, it's about to be renamed the Illumi-latte. Pumpkin Spice Latte is a mouthful anyway.

5. It's Oprah's Next Book Club Pick.

Have you read some of the instructions people put on their drinks to customize them? They're novel-length as it is, so maybe this one's not too far from the truth.

Okay, okay. Maybe we should just stick with our original, and very vague, hypothesis: The PSL is coming soon. And if you can't wait for the barista-made version, you can always pick up the bottled variety in grocery stores now.

We'll stalk Facebook for you and update this story as soon as we know more.

Starbucks Secret Menu Frappuccinos

Butterbeer Frappuccino

Starbucks has finally concocted a drink that Harry Potter fans have been dreaming about tasting for years. Since you can’t pay a visit to Hosmeade in order to try the real thing, a butterbeer frappuccino is the next best thing. It’s built on a creme frappuccino base (which means no coffee), and made with lots of caramel.

  • Smother the cup in caramel drizzle
  • Ask for a creme frappuccino base with whole milk
  • 3 pumps of caramel syrup
  • 3 pumps of toffee nut syrup
  • Top with caramel drizzle

Skittles Frappuccino

Those with palates that prefer a bit more of a tangy twist will enjoy one of the most colorful Starbucks secret menu items, the Skittles frappuccino. It’s tropical, fruity, and fun! To make the Skittles frappuccino, a barista will use a strawberries and creme base and then add vanilla syrup and raspberry syrup.

  • Ask for a strawberries and creme frappuccino base
  • Ask for no classic syrup
  • 3 pumps of vanilla syrup
  • 1 pump of raspberry syrup

Tie-Dye Frappuccino

In the mood for something bright and colorful? Try the tie-dye frappuccino, which looks just as groovy as it is tasty. With the right barista, this blended, creamy drink will look like a psychedelic swirl of red, blue, and yellow, making it easily one of the most Instagrammable Starbucks drinks around. Currently, it’s reportedly only available at select times, and the actual recipe is a secret (but has a creamy banana taste).

Zombie Frappuccino

With Halloween right around the corner, what better way to celebrate than with a zombie frappuccino? Sip on zombie brains as you discover the delicious taste of the undead. Seeing as the drink is green and pink, it makes sense that it tastes like a caramel green apple, which is super fitting for the Halloween season.

  • Ask for a creme frappuccino base
  • Green caramel apple powder
  • Pink powder
  • Pink whipped cream that look like brains
  • Pink dark mocha drizzle

It’s worth noting that various Starbucks locations around the country tend to offer unique Halloween drinks each season, so they might have something new on the menu that’s just as tasty.

Peanut Butter Cup Frappuccino

Is there any better dessert invention than the peanut butter cup? Absolutely not. And now you can enjoy an oh-so-indulgent peanut butter frappuccino from the Starbucks secret menu. The best part, though, is that you don’t actually have to ask them to blend any real peanut butter into the mix.

  • Ask for a mocha frappuccino base (so, yes, this has a bit of coffee)
  • Soy milk
  • 3 pumps of toffee nut syrup
  • Whipped cream and mocha drizzle

Pumpkin Spice Latte Season Is Already Stressing Out Starbucks Baristas

Baristas are turning to Reddit to vent their frustrations as autumn looms.

As children, the waning days of summer brought with them a growing sense of dread. Then one day it happened: You𠆝 walk into a store and see the display of pencils and notebooks… School was nearly back in session. For Starbucks baristas, as the warm weather fades, a different signpost announces their impending fall doom… a jug of Pumpkin Spice sauce.

Over the weekend, Reddit’s always active Starbucks subreddit (which seems to serve as a casual online hangout for employees) received a post entitled, “It’s coming. God help us all.” The content: Nothing more than a photo of a 63-ounce bottle of “Starbucks® Pumpkin Spice Flavoured Sauce/Sauce Naturellement Aromatisee A La Citrouille Epicee.” Yes, apparently even French baristas dread the start of PSL season.

The post racked up 145 comments featuring a surprisingly wide range of opinions on the annual event. “Winter is coming…” went one pop culture-referencing quip. But another interesting sentiment was that, compared to the madness that was the Unicorn Frappuccino craze (which many baristas openly despised making), whipping up a simple PSL is a breeze. “Gimme basic white girl PSL hype over [limited time only] frappuccinos with their 5 million steps and components ANYDAY,” wrote one commenter.

But as Grub Street points out, PSL season actually comes with another problem you might not realize: Rogue stores jumping the gun and serving Pumpkin Spice Lattes ahead of schedule. Though PSLs aren’t supposed to officially debut until around Labor Day, with the above existing photographic evidence, clearly the cat is out of the bag that the ingredients have already shipped to some stores. In a separate Reddit thread, one user wrote, “My [manager] is making us sell it to anyone who asks. Don&apost even have the POS button so it&aposs just a ‘white mocha’.”

Needless to say, one Starbucks jumping the gun on serving a PSL ahead of schedule can cause trouble for everyone. “Well the other store made me a Pumpkin Spice Latte…” another Reddit post is titled. “I hate this,” explained a commenter, “when you get a customer who was mishandled by another store or barista and then they take things out on you when you don&apost know exactly what they did to satisfy this insane person.” The moral: PSL season is hard enough for Starbucks baristas. Don’t make it worse by not respecting the rules! The best PSLs come to those who wait.

Starbucks confirms the Pumpkin Spice Latte is returning Tuesday

It may still be summer, but Starbucks is already getting coffee fans psyched for fall with its annual release of the Pumpkin Spice Latte.

On Tuesday, the coffee chain confirmed that the wildly popular beverage will be returning to stores nationwide today. This year, PSL lovers may enjoy the drink “hot, iced, or blended — topped with whipped cream and real pumpkin pie spices," according to a press release from the coffee chain.

Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew will also be back after making its debut last year. The drink is made with cold brew coffee that’s sweetened with vanilla syrup, topped with a pumpkin cream cold foam and a dusting of pumpkin spice topping.

The chain’s Salted Caramel Mocha, which combines mocha sauce and toffee nut syrup with coffee and steamed milk that's topped with sweetened whipped cream, a caramel drizzle and a blend of turbinado sugar and sea salt, is also returning Tuesday along with Starbucks' pumpkin cream cheese muffins and pumpkin scones.

The beloved latte's release comes just a day after the coffee chain teased the return of its autumn offerings with a post on Instagram that gave people a fall-themed hotline to call — yes, you read that right — to get into a cozy sweater-wearing, seasonal latte-sipping state of mind.

"Fall is so close you can hear it," Starbucks captioned a picture featuring one of its hot beverages set against a warm background. The cup had the hotline number, 1-833-GET-FALL, written where a customer's name would usually appear.

The hotline, which is available to those in the U.S. and Canada, first appeared in Starbucks' closed Facebook group called the Leaf Rakers Society.

So what happens when you dial this mysterious number? When TODAY Food dialed in and pressed a button to hear "practice pumpkin mantras," a deep, soothing voice was heard on the line.

"Hold your pumpkin drink close and open your mind," said the voice in a tone which may induce some serious ASMR brain tingles among callers. "We're going to unlock all the fall feels."

Other options on the hotline included "cozy up with your cup," which featured a crackling fire, and "flannel on repeat," which was literally just someone repeating the word "flannel" over and over.

Food Starbucks says all customers will soon have to wear masks in cafes nationwide

Following the Instagram post, fans quickly jumped on the bandwagon — or should we say hayride — and total fall fever commenced.

"Would order pumpkin spice all year if it were available," wrote one commenter.

"I just called! I will definitely be redialing in the near future. This made my Monday morning," wrote another fall fan.

Earlier this summer, the coffee chain confirmed that the Pumpkin Spice Latte would be returning for its 17th year in a row.

Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Latte Is Officially Back In Stores

Today's the day! Pumpkin Spice Lattes are BACK at Starbucks while supplies last. Lest you think you're the only one excited, here are some reactions from fellow enthusiastic PSL lovers. And if you're not a PSL fan, you might want to try Starbucks' new Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew. It's a little less sweet and packs an extra 35mg of caffeine (185mg in a grande compared to 150mg in a PSL of the same size).

Not a fan of PSL&rsquos but @Starbucks&rsquo new Pumpkin Spice Cold Brew is where it&rsquos at.

UPDATE: August 20, 2019 at 4:08 p.m.

Mark your calendars: The return of the PSL has been confirmed. Starbucks announced its most iconic fall drink, the Pumpkin Spice Latte, will be back in stores nationwide Tuesday, August 27.

Rather than roll out the fanfare à la 2017's elaborate Facebook live stream, the brand announced the date on Twitter: "It's official. PSL returns 8/27!" The news comes following Tweets and Reddit comments from loose-lipped baristas who spilled the (coffee) beans prematurely.

The 27th is the PSL's earliest official return date ever, according to Business Insider. Last year, the drink came back August 28 in 2016 and 2017 it was added to menus September 1. As always, the PSL can be ordered in hot or iced latte form, as the Starbucks gods intended, or as a Frappuccino blended beverage. Pumpkin spice sauce can also be added to plain iced or hot coffee.

This is the Starbucks drink's 16th anniversary. But until its launch, if you're looking to stock up on the good stuff, Starbucks rolled out a whole line of at-home pumpkin products you can find at your grocery store. Pumpkin Spice Latte-flavored K-Cups, ground coffee, VIA Instant, Ready-to-Drink PSL's, and Pumpkin Spice Cookie Straws included.

ORIGINAL STORY: August 12, 2019 at 4:52 p.m.

Break out your fall sweaters: Starbucks' drink of the season, the Pumpkin Spice Latte, might have a return date. While a spokesperson for the brand said Starbucks is "not quite ready to reveal our plans for this year," baristas have been tweeting about the return and several told Business Insider the drink will be back in stores Tuesday, August 27.

A commenter in a recent Reddit thread also mentioned that date: "Boss told me August 27th. Not 100% sure though" (and another in this thread). If true, that's a day earlier than last year's August 28 return date and four days sooner than 2016 and 2017, when the PSL wasn't released until September 5.

psl comes out on aug 27, and I&rsquom screaming bc I just love fall and winter.

&mdash Sami🧚🏼&zwj♀️ (@samanthaalpr) August 11, 2019

As a reminder, you can find updates on all things Starbucks x Pumpkin in this Facebook group, the Leaf Rakers Society. And while we wait for the PSL to officially return to stores, grocery stores are already stocked: You can find Starbucks' new Pumpkin Spice Creamer in stores now along with pumpkin spice-flavored ground and instant coffee, pumpkin K-Cups, ready-to-drink Pumpkin Spice Lattes, and pumpkin spice cookie straws.

Over at Dunkin', PSL's will be back for a hot second (one day, to be exact) this Wednesday, August 14, before returning for the season on August 24. Pillsbury is also getting a head start on the season with its newly-announced fall/Halloween products. If you're not psyched for Pumpkin Spice Sweet Rolls, I don't know what to tell you other than you're missing out on some serious fall joy.

Starbucks to release pumpkin spice latte on earliest day yet

A manager at one Starbucks location in Brooklyn, New York, said that he expects all fall menu items to be available on August 27, the confirmed release date. A manager at a Starbucks location in Nashville, Tennessee, echoed the same news: Pumpkin Spice Lattes will be coming back on the last Tuesday of August and there will be a slew of new fall items available.

Despite fans excitement, some wondered if perhaps August was too early to welcome back to the popular beverage. The anchors weighed in during The 3rd Hour of TODAY.

“At least wait for September! August is not fall for anyone!" Dylan Dreyer said emphatically, adding that if blueberries are still fresh, there's no need to go rushing into fall-flavored foods.

“I guess it’s back to school. You go back to school, you get your Pumpkin Spice Latte, I guess?" said Sheinelle Jones.

"Everyone's just trying to kill summer!" Craig Melvin agreed.

The consensus? Craig, Dylan and Sheinelle are all happy to embrace fall beverages like the Pumpkin Spice Latte — but they’d all prefer to wait and enjoy them when it's actually fall.

Food Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Latte is coming back in August — and fans are losing it

August 27 will be the earliest official release date for the Pumpkin Spice Latte in the chain's history.

In 2018, Starbucks created a big stir, releasing the drink on August 28, which was also a Tuesday. However, in 2014, Starbucks hosted an online scavenger hunt which allowed a select few to get their hands on the drink on August 26. That promotion was considered an "early release," and the drink wasn't officially available to all customers until Sept. 2, 2014.

Starbucks served the first Pumpkin Spice Latte in 2003 at its headquarters in Seattle. Today, the drink is available around the world and is the coffee chain's top-selling seasonal beverage of all time. A rep for the chain told TODAY that Starbucks has sold an estimated 424 million PSLs since 2003.

Pumpkin Spice Latte

Starbucks' signature drink will be back earlier than ever this year, but it's in good company with other limited-edition fall releases. Dunkin’s own pumpkin-centric menu debuts this Wednesday, August 21. Items include the new Pumpkin Spice Donut and a PSL rival: the Cinnamon Sugar Pumpkin Signature Latte.

The chain is getting so into fall that it will be renaming and rebranding eight stores to carry the name Pumpkin'.

Cheers, pumpkin lovers, soon you may be able to enjoy that signature flavor all year long.

Pumpkin Spice Latte Hacks

• Add Hazelnut Syrup: This makes it taste even more like pumpkin pie!

• Put it On Ice: Same great fall taste in a summer drink!

• Add Some Chocolate Chips: Everything's better with a little chocolate.

• Substitute Coconut Milk: Another way to try a summer edition of the famous autumn coffee.

• No Espresso: If you don’t need the caffeine, ditch it. You may be surprised how much you like the drink without it.

• Spicy Chai PSL: If you really like your chai, add two pumps of pumpkin syrup instead of doing a regular pumpkin spice latte.

• Add Salted Caramel: Want to add a little sweet that’s not too overwhelming?

Try a pump of caramel and a dash of salt.

• Keep it Simple: If you’re not into all the extra coffee additions, get a pump of pumpkin spice syrup in your regular coffee.

• Too Sweet: If the drink you get is a lot sweeter than you expected, don’t be hesitant to add a little extra cinnamon or nutmeg.
